Our classic this year was “Little Women”. As the library provided me with a child’s version, I quickly took the library’s book of the month, “Island” by Aldous Huxley. This was a challenging and lengthy description of a utopian society in a Pacific island – a complete contrast to the genteel lives of young women in a quiet Massachusetts town. We continued to read a variety of genres and particularly enjoyed the coming of age story of a young miner’s son in the aftermath of the Second World War.
We now have one new member so as at 12th July 2024 the group is now full.
